Located on the Hibiscus Coast Highway in the heart of the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, New World Whangaparāoa is a vital commercial anchor for the local community, delivering a modern, full-service supermarket experience to thousands of coastal residents daily. Operating a facility of this scale requires round-the-clock reliability—particularly across its extensive, high-capacity commercial refrigeration systems—to ensure fresh produce, meat, and dairy remain at optimal temperatures without interrupting customer service.
To safeguard stock and ensure zero disruption to daily trading, Team Chilled Status was brought in to execute a high-stakes, overnight refrigeration upgrade at New World Whangaparāoa. Operating after hours under floodlights, the team coordinated with New Zealand Crane Hire to perform a precision lift, successfully hoisting and replacing the massive 1.6-tonne refrigeration rack system located on the supermarket’s roof.
Working within a tight critical window, the crew safely shut down the existing refrigeration plant, swapped out the heavy infrastructure, and re-commissioned the entire system in under four hours. The plant restarted seamlessly with zero issues, ensuring cold chain integrity was maintained and the store was fully operational well before doors opened for morning trade.
